I've spent nearly two decades building design teams and practices I'm genuinely proud of — not just for the work they produce, but for the culture they create. My approach has always been rooted in empathy and collaboration, giving teams the space to explore, experiment, and push past the obvious answer.

I've had the chance to do this across a pretty wide range of organizations: Fortune 500 companies like Ford and Google, startups, government agencies, nonprofits, and higher education. That range has given me a real appreciation for how different the "right" design solution can look depending on context.

What drives me is finding that intersection where user needs and business goals actually reinforce each other — and helping teams see and build toward that.

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and currently live in beautiful Chilliwack, British Columbia. When I am not at my desk I spend my days with my wife Jess (who is also a designer), our three black cats, and riding mountain bikes or swinging a golf club.

Work Experience

Grid DynamicsDirector, Head of UX Design Practice

Jan 2024 – Present

Built the UX Design and Research practice from the ground up following Grid Dynamics' acquisition of Mutual Mobile — establishing methodology, governance, and an operating model where none previously existed.

Scaled the team from 16 to 60 designers, researchers, and strategists in two years, personally leading approximately 32 hires with four regional managers as direct reports. Own the practice-level hiring plan, budget, and revenue targets; the design org generated $8M+ in design-led client revenue in 2025.

Partner directly with enterprise clients including Apple, Ford, Google, Home Depot, and Loblaws to shape design strategy balancing user needs with business outcomes (engagements under NDA).

Drive pre-sales and client discovery as the senior design voice in deal conversations, shaping scope and approach with executive stakeholders before engagements move into delivery.

Led integration of the Mobile Computing UX team following its 2025 acquisition, retaining talent and harmonizing methodology with the existing practice.

Embedded AI-accelerated prototyping (Claude, Cursor, Figma) into all discovery engagements, compressing standard 10-week discovery-to-dev-ready cycles by 20%.

Established design system governance and a scalable design ops model adopted across 12 active internal tools and R&D projects.

Launched mentorship and professional development programs resulting in 6 internal promotions in 2025.

Mutual Mobile — UX Team Lead

Dec 2022 – Jan 2024

Inherited and led a global team of 13 UX designers and researchers delivering across iOS, Android, desktop, and XR for unicorn startups and Fortune 500 clients.

Established a proprietary design methodology spanning discovery, research, and product delivery — adopted as the team's standard operating approach and carried forward into Grid Dynamics.

Led UX redesign of Ember Technologies' connected-mug mobile app — overhauling onboarding, device pairing, and control interfaces based on user testing — driving an 83% increase in user sessions and 336% increase in new users post-launch.

Delivered design engagements for 1-800-Contacts and Renfroe alongside the Ember work, spanning consumer and B2B contexts.

Played a foundational role in integration following Grid Dynamics' acquisition, establishing the UX practice that did not previously exist within the acquiring company.

Versett / Domain7 — Senior Experience Designer

Sep 2014 — Nov 2022 // Domain7 was acquired by Versett in 2022.

In 2022, Domain7 was acquired by Versett, marking the continuation of my role as a Senior Experience Designer. In this capacity, I was instrumental in overseeing the delivery of various products and websites for a broad spectrum of clients, including Regent College, eCampus Ontario, Pacific Blue Cross, Concert Properties, the City of Burnaby, and numerous government agencies, higher education institutions, and SaaS businesses.

Project Leadership and Design Oversight — Led the design and development of solutions, ensuring thorough testing, validation, and documentation. I bridged design challenges with technical requirements, achieving high-quality, user-centered outcomes. My expertise in iOS design, UX testing, and agile methodologies played a critical role in guiding the team towards success.

Client Workshop Facilitation — Conducted hands-on workshops with clients, establishing a foundation for design rationale and data-driven decision-making. Through journey mapping, rapid prototyping, art direction, and brand integration, I crafted cohesive and impactful user experiences.

Design Systems and Standards — Played a pivotal role in establishing high-fidelity design standards and scalable design systems. This ensured consistency across all projects, enhancing the overall quality and cohesiveness of our design output.

Outcome-Driven Delivery — The projects I led not only met but exceeded client expectations, leading to improved user experiences, increased engagement, and measurable business impacts.

Tool Proficiency and Industry Alignment — Demonstrated expertise in utilizing design tools like Figma to enhance collaboration and streamline the design process. My commitment to staying abreast of industry trends and best practices ensured that our design solutions were both innovative and in line with current standards.
